Affiliate disclosure. The partner link in the masthead and in the bands beside the copy on this page is a sponsored link to a partner operator, and this site may be paid if you open an account through it, at no extra cost to you. It carries rel="sponsored noopener" and opens in a new tab. That matters on this desk in particular: the subject is what a second company does with a reader’s money, and this site’s own revenue depends on a reader opening an account. No wallet and no operator is named, rated or recommended anywhere on this site.

Two routes, two clocks

Two complaint routes

The fastest way to lose weeks is to file a complaint at the wrong hop. A wallet cannot void a bet, reopen a market or explain a bonus; an operator cannot answer for a fee its payment company charged before the money arrived.

Direct answerA complaint about a transfer, a fee, a conversion, a blocked account or a missing balance belongs to the wallet and, if unresolved, to the financial regulator that authorises it. A complaint about a stake, a settlement, a bonus or an operator account belongs to the operator and then to its dispute body.

Two questions, two parties, two authorities

01

The wallet answers for the hop and nothing beyond it

A wallet can produce a record of a transfer, a fee it charged, a rate it applied and a closure decision it took. It cannot produce a bet record, and it has no standing to change one. When a player asks a wallet to reverse a losing stake, the request is not being refused out of unwillingness; it is outside what the party can do.

02

The operator answers for the product and nothing upstream of it

An operator can explain a settlement, a bonus condition or a restriction, and can correct its own balance. It cannot refund a wallet’s fee, and it usually cannot even see it. Its statement of what arrived will be smaller than what left your bank, and that gap is not an error on its side.

03

Where the reversal machinery actually lives

Money that is taken back after it has been credited - a chargeback, a clawback, a reversed deposit - is a subject of its own in this series and it involves all three parties: the bank reverses against the wallet, the wallet reverses against the operator, and the operator debits the account. That mechanism is not repeated here; what matters at this desk is that it produces three separate clocks, and a reader chasing all three at once will be told by each party that the other one holds the answer.

How to file it at the right hop

  1. Identify the question: was it a movement of money, or a bet? That decides the hop.
  2. Raise it with the party at that hop, in writing, and keep their reference.
  3. If it is unresolved, escalate to that party’s own authority: a financial regulator for the wallet, a gambling regulator or dispute body for the operator.
  4. Expect no cross-talk. The wallet does not argue your bet case and the operator does not argue your fee case.
  5. Keep the two records separate, because the two files are separate.

What each route covers

A wallet complaint is about

A fee that was not disclosed, a transfer that did not arrive, a conversion rate, a balance held or withheld, a closure decision, an inactivity charge, and the return of whatever remains.

An operator complaint is about

A bet that was settled in a way the terms do not support, a balance that moved, a bonus condition, a restriction or closure of the gambling account, and the withdrawal of a balance.

One practical consequence. The party that took the money is rarely the party that can give it back to your bank. A refund of a wallet fee is a wallet matter; a correction of a stake is an operator matter. Filing at the wrong hop costs a full cycle of correspondence before it starts again.
